If you are in your Workspace and clicking on the icon for the local replica of your mailfile and your Notes client is attempting to open the replica on your Home Server, I would suspect some confusion on your Workspace. If this issue is present in the Standard client but not present in the Basic client, then the likely suspect is the something in the Workspace subdirectory.
I don't understand all the details of what goes into the Workspace directory, but here is a link to a discussion about how to clean and reset your Workspace directory:
